Diversity

A word from George Roberts, Head of UK & Ireland

“In a world now characterised by uncertainty and change, we need new thinking and bold ideas that challenge and grow what we can do for our clients every day. For this reason, we are clear that we need to attract and retain the very best talent, from all backgrounds and of any race, religion and gender.

We are active participants in groups, such as Changing the Face of Property, CREW and Real Estate Balance, seeking to increase diversity across our industry as a whole. We have launched Inspire, our diversity and inclusion programme, which seeks to highlight and drive diversity in many areas. Sponsored by our Executive Committee, Inspire has made great strides forward in launching new initiatives that support gender diversity including a flexible and agile working scheme and a UK-wide mentoring programme, the latter recognising the importance of mentors in progressing and realising career goals.”

We are committed to challenging our working practices, processes and perspectives to provide a culture and environment at Cushman & Wakefield that welcomes, and actively supports and encourages, anyone who has the talent, desire, appetite and ambition to succeed, regardless of gender, age, ethnicity or background.”

Giving Back

‘Giving Back’ is integral to our culture and Cushman & Wakefield is proud of the huge amount its staff do to give back to local communities. In recent years a few examples include: raising well needed funds for LandAid and picking up a World Record in the process with our Cushopoly challenge; our graduates went as far as Tokyo to raise around 5k for Schools Around the World; and our green fingered Birmingham team created a garden in aid of injured military personnel.

More recently in 2018 our London Markets team raised over £150,000 for XLP and Back-Up Trust when 100 colleagues kayaked 13 miles from Tottenham Hale to Paddington Basin, and in Scotland the annual Rob Worboys Challenge raised £36,500 for Cardiac Risk and The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice after 100 colleagues cycled 57 miles around the Isle of Arran.

Many of our people support fantastic causes for example by taking part in the ‘Reading in Schools’ programme; youth mentoring; working with the homeless and achieving amazing sporting feats in aid of their chosen charities. In recognition of this fantastic contribution and to give everyone an opportunity to make an impact toward something they are passionate about, Cushman & Wakefield staff are given 1 day’s paid leave to undertake a charitable activity, and any money raised for charity Cushman & Wakefield will match.
